Their food is good barring that one item but I would not go there as long as they have the same manager.Just south of Boston is Quincy, MA, where you’ll find a great blend of beaches and bay views, historic sites dating back to 1625, and of course, a culinary experience that embraces the city’s long history. Maybe the manager had a tough time that day or he had other issues, but from our perspective that was not respectful behavior. Another waitress came along and told us to ignore him and enjoy our time. He finally left by rudely taking away our menus without offering any apology or a replacement and throwing the menu in the bar area where all the menus were stacked up. He kept saying maybe the dish was not to our liking and not accepting that there was anything wrong with it. About 5 mins later the manager come in to check why we returned the dish which according to him was a very popular dish, we gave the same reasoning as we gave to the waiter but he didn't seem to like it. The waiter graciously accepted our reasoning and took the food back. We decided to return the dish and called our waiter explaining that we didn't like it and thought the food was stale or was uncooked. We ordered the chicken and lettuce wraps upon eating we thought that the chicken was stale and had a smell. I will have to give this place the least rating. I can't wait for my next trip back home to Boston to head back to South Garden for another great meal! This dish was absolutely incredible and I'd come back to South Garden again and again just to have this dish. The scallops were cooked in half of their shell and covered in vermicelli and garlic sauce. The standout dish that had all of us beyond excited was the live scallop with vermicelli and garlic. The serving size was generous, and the plate was full of hunks of shelled lobster tails and claws. Another great dish we had was their ginger scallion lobster. The shrimp were large and the crispy and the soft taro pot was delicious. In addition, we got the Pineapple Shrimp in Taro Pot which was an amazing spin on a mayo shrimp dish. Their half chicken coated in crispy garlic was tender, juicy, and paired perfectly with some white rice. Over a weekend trip back home to Boston I tried South Garden for the first time, and ended up dinning in one night and getting takeout on my way to the airport at the end of the trip. South Garden maintains a highly busy dine-in and takeout service. If you're looking for a great meal, easy parking, and uninterested in heading into Boston, then this is the perfect place. Their food was incredible and was accompanied by a friendly and humorous waiter. South Garden is a 5 Star authentic Chinese restaurant located in Quincy, MA.
